Current Project: Sustainable Feminine Hygiene
For our current project, we chose to focus on feminine hygiene, a subject often stigmatized worldwide despite being a normal part of life for over half the population. To support the girls in our school and the patients at our medical center, we provided period panties and organized educational sessions led by female teachers on menstruation. Our goal is to help destigmatize this natural process and ensure that young girls are better equipped to manage it with confidence.
We chose period panties because they are a culturally sensitive solution in a region where tampons and other insertable products are less desired. They also offer practical benefits—being highly absorbent, reusable after washing, and long-lasting, making them an ideal option for girls who may have limited access to menstrual products.
By educating the girls early on about what to expect and providing them with the tools to manage their periods, we hope to empower them to feel more comfortable and confident. The educational sessions cover not only the biological aspects of menstruation but also how to manage hygiene, reduce embarrassment, and break the stigma around this important issue.
